Alaa is a seasoned business leader in the investment management field, he’s focused on expanding businesses into new markets and tackling challenging transformations and turnaround situations. His expertise includes sales and cost optimization, family succession and business continuity in addition to augmenting governance systems leading to full or partial exits. Successfully delivering value as a board director or interim executive, while achieving high level of compliance to various regulatory frameworks including CMA and SAMA. Alaa can lead and impact across sectors, his track record includes appointments to boards in FMCG, financial services and assets management, insurance, light industries, agriculture and livestock, real estate, strategy consulting, media, hospitability and retail, venture capital, IP commercialization, municipal services, regional and rural development, sports, art, and philanthropy.
Alaa is currently a board member and the managing director of Sulaiman Alrajhi Holding Company, the investment arm of Awqaf Sulaiman Alrajhi. He’s also on numerous domestic and international boards including board roles on behalf of the PIF, the Saudi government, Middle Eastern banks, endowments, and family businesses.
Alaa obtained an MBA from the Management School at Lancaster University, UK in 2003 and his bachelor’s degree in accounting from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Saudi Arabia in 1998. He’s a Chartered Director and Fellow of the Institute of Directors, UK since 2016 and the Honorary President of Lancaster University GCC Philanthropy Chapter. He co-founded and served on the boards of several professional associations, NGOs, and social projects.
